ROBERT C. GEORGE, M.D.

Robert Carr George was born in Buffalo, NY, son of Clyde W. and Mildred M. Winner George. He prepared for Yale at Nichols School in Buffalo.

Bob was a History of Art major, on Dean's List and a Ranking Scholar. He was a member of the Political Union. A resident of Silliman, he was on the Activities Committee senior year; he was captain of the Silliman hockey team and on the soccer and football teams.

Following graduation, Bob obtained his medical degree from Yale School of Medicine in 1966. He then pursued his medical training in the Boston area at Brigham and Woman's Hospital, Children's Hospital, Mass General and Tufts Medical Center.

Subsequently Bob practiced orthopedic surgery in Norwalk, Connecticut for many years. He served as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Norwalk Hospital and as a member of that hospital's Board of Trustees. He was a former member of the Darien Representative Town Meeting and a member of the Darien EMS Advisory Committee. He was retired at the time of his death.

Bob died in a fire that destroyed his vacation home in Chatham on Cape Cod on the evening of January 12, 2015. Firefighters from 3 adjoining towns were called to assist the Chatham Fire Department extinguish the blaze that engulfed the vacation home. The cause of the fire was deemed not suspicious.

Bob is survived by his 2 children, Allison and Douglas. He was estranged from his wife Linda at the time of his death.
